First Day 19/8/2008

Iron Butt warriors who participated:-

1) TokWan – ER5
2) Pak Aji – ZZR250
3) Mustaqim – Naza250
4) TokSkoot – Tmax500

Sharp at 6 pm, we start our engine and moved from Restoren Pelita Sg Dua, followed by TokMohoni until we reached the exit to Penang bridge. Our ride followed the formation as above, Tokwan as lead marsyall while yours truly act as sweeper/last man. We refuel at Gurun R&R and continue until Changlun to purchase Thai Insurance & Road Tax and also buy Thai currency. Exchange rate at that time was RM1 = 10.15Bht. Then we moved to Petronas Changlun to fill our motorcycle as maximum as possible... petrol cost about RM2.92/ltr in Thailand compare to RM1.92/ltr in Malaysia.

We continue our ride to Bukit Kayu Hitam border check point.Clearance from Malaysia side was smooth. You don't even have to get down from your bike to process your passport.

At Thai Checkpoint

On Thailand side, the traffic were quite heavy. Must be because of the weekend and malaysian took the opportunity to shopping & entertain themselves here.Like a friend of mine said in jest, Thailand has a lot of orphan who need Malaysian kind heart to give charity ;D

At Thai checkpoint, you need to park your vehicle and process your passport at one dedicated counter. After completed, you'll need to go to another counter to register your vehicle. Make sure you bring the original copy of your vehicle registration or a verified copy (verified by local police station).

After completed the requirement, we went to check in at P.J. Hotel. The room cost Bht700/night shared by three of us. It consist of 1 queen bed and 1 single bed.

Second Day 20/8/2006

As early as 6am (Thai),we checked out from PJ House Hotel and moved to Chumpon thru route 4 dan 41. Stop for refuel at Haadyai outskirt(bht100).

Then stop again for refuel at Pa Phayom (bht170)

Another refuel stop at Ban Na Doem (bht230)

Stop for lunch at Chaiya

We found this small muslim restaurant by accident. We stopped by the roadside to relieve numb butt and saw a restaurant with moon and star sign, an indication that this is muslim restaurant. Such a nice muslim family.. even invited us to take bath in their small bathroom....or maybe because we stank :D

We stopped to overnight at Chumpon after refuel again at Lang Suan (bht250).The room at Chumpon Grand Palace cost us bht690/night. Again shared by three of us. Quite cheap compare to Malaysia, which would cost easily more than RM100 per night.

The view from 14th floor

We had our dinner at one of muslim restaurant located in front of Chumpon wet market. The owner is a Pattani origin, married with a Pakistani. Very cheap.. only cost us about bht50 per person.
